The MDS Academy elite soccer training program in Bergen County, NJ is built for players who want more than standard team training provides. It is a demanding, structured development environment focused entirely on performance improvement — for players serious about reaching the next level. Sessions are held at New Milford High School, drawing players from Ridgewood, Westwood, and across Bergen County, New Jersey. Entry is through a free Premier ID session. If you're looking for a casual program, this isn't it.
Elite training is not about training harder — it's about training smarter, with higher standards and greater intensity. Every MDS elite session is designed to push players in four specific areas that determine performance at the highest levels of youth soccer.
Technical ability
Players at the elite level are technically clean under pressure, with every touch, pass, and movement executed with precision. MDS sessions build this through high-repetition, game-realistic technical work.
Decision making
Reading the game and making the right decision before receiving the ball separates good players from elite ones. Sessions are structured to create constant decision-making moments.
Speed of play
Elite soccer is played faster. MDS training increases a player's ability to receive, decide, and execute at higher tempo — developing a quicker, more efficient style of play.
Tactical awareness
Understanding positioning, movement patterns, pressing triggers, and how to impact the game without the ball are all developed through structured tactical exercises.
MDS Academy coaches follow a structured session model built around a defined technical or tactical theme for every session. Nothing is unplanned. Every exercise connects to a learning outcome, and every session connects to the broader seasonal curriculum.
Sessions progress through a warm-up with ball work, a technical block focused on the session theme, a tactical application phase where skills are used in game-like conditions, and a competitive game format to pressure-test what was trained. This structure ensures that technical development translates directly into improved game performance.
Coaches provide real-time feedback throughout sessions. Players are expected to take coaching on board, make adjustments, and demonstrate improvement within the session. This culture of continuous feedback is what separates MDS from programmes that simply run drills without a development focus.

Full transfer into match conditions
Technical development and tactical development are not separate — they are two sides of the same coin. A player who is technically excellent but tactically lost will struggle at elite level. Equally, a tactically aware player who cannot execute the required technique under pressure will be found out.
MDS sessions are designed to develop both simultaneously. Technical exercises are embedded within tactical contexts so that players are always learning to use their skills in situations that mirror real game demands. Over time, this builds genuine game intelligence — the ability to read situations, anticipate play, and make the right decision with composure.
Receiving and turning in tight spaces under defensive pressure
Combination play in small groups — overlaps, third-man runs, wall passes
Pressing organisation and trigger recognition
Transition from defence to attack and vice versa
Individual and team defensive positioning
Creating and exploiting 2v1 and 3v2 situations
The MDS elite program is not for everyone — and that's by design. It is built for players who are genuinely committed to development, who are willing to be challenged, and who want an honest training environment where standards are maintained.
Committed competitive players
Players already in competitive travel or premier club environments who want elite-level supplemental training to sharpen their individual game.
Players targeting higher levels
Athletes with genuine ambitions to play at a higher club standard, earn a starting position, or pursue a college soccer pathway.
Players who respond to coaching
Players who are coachable, who take feedback seriously, and who understand that being challenged is part of development — not a criticism.
Families who prioritise development over results
Parents who understand that long-term player development takes time and who value the process as much as outcomes.
