FAQs
Residential Soccer Camp FAQ
Yes. The MDS Residential Camp is a true sleepaway (overnight) soccer camp in New Jersey. In summer 2027 there are two: Georgian Court University in Lakewood (Sun, July 11 – Thu, July 15) and Blair Academy in Blairstown (Sun, July 18 – Thu, July 22). Players born 2010–2017 stay on campus for 5 days and 4 nights, training twice a day and playing evening games.
Player Development
Why Residential Soccer Camps Help Players Improve Faster
At a residential soccer camp, nothing gets in the way of your player's development. When players live, eat and train in one place, every part of the day builds good habits, from recovery and nutrition to the focus that comes from being around coaches and teammates who take the game seriously.
A weekly training session gives players about an hour on their game before school, homework and everything else take over. An overnight soccer camp changes that. Players train twice a day, play evening games and have coaches around all day, not just during drills.
Sleepaway camp also builds things coaching alone can't: independence, resilience and the ability to perform away from home. Plenty of players arrive at the MDS Residential Camp nervous about being away from family. Within a day or two, most are competing, learning and making friends with their teammates.
Training several times a day gives players a level of repetition that weekly sessions can't match. The progress doesn't come from any single session. It comes from five days in a row built around getting better.
Curriculum
What Players Learn at Our Youth Soccer Residential Camp NJ
Our overnight soccer camp in NJ follows the four MDS pillars: first touch, ball mastery, decision making and game understanding. Every session has a clear goal, and coaches give each player feedback all week.
Technical Foundations
Ball mastery, passing combinations, first touch, turning and dribbling under pressure. Players repeat core techniques at game speed so the skills carry into games.
Tactical Understanding
Shape, positioning, movement off the ball, pressing triggers and transitions. Sessions use real game situations so players understand the why behind every decision.
Position-Specific Coaching
Sessions for forwards, midfielders, defenders and goalkeepers, so each player gets coaching for their own role on the team.
Competitive Application
Every idea gets tested in live games. Evening small-sided games and tournaments let players use the day's work under real pressure.
Mental Resilience
Living away from home, getting used to new teammates and playing somewhere new all build mental strength. Players learn to focus, manage themselves and compete with confidence.
Recovery and Professionalism
Players learn how professional athletes handle rest, hydration and preparation between sessions. Team meetings and evening reviews build the habits of serious players early.
